Meljen's Challenge - It's A Sketch!

Good morning everyone. I'm am so thankful it is Thursday. I don't know what is going on at work or why I seem extra busy, but I can't get out of work on time and I'm non stop all day. Of course the week didn't start off so great LOL  On Monday one of my Directors needed something done. I worked ALL day on it.. and even into the evening. I worked for 13 hours on it.. only to be told that I had been working on the wrong thing. Ughhh... how frustrating is that!! So, I got up early on Tuesday, got into work and did what she needed done so that it was waiting for her when she got in. Not the best way to start off the week LOL Oh well! I have gotten a lot of things done this week. I can't seem to catch up no matter what I do though. I guess that is good though.. job security!

Okay.. enough of that.. on to our challenge this week. Our Challenge this week at Meljen's Designs is a Sketch Challenge!

I followed the sketch... somewhat LOL I did make some changes.. mostly because my image ended up on a rectangle instead of a circle. Just how it worked out. I did add the extra circle to make up for it :)

Let's see... I used mostly cardstock.. the teal and the pink. There is a white patterned paper on the teal.. the strip of it next to the teal strip with the "Season's Greetings" on it. That strip is pattered paper from Little Yellow Bicycle - Once Upon A Christmas. I used some buttons from my stash and ribbon from my stash.. those are no less than 8 years old LOL The circle is made from a folding technique here at Desire's - Doing Life. I didn't fold the edges down.. I wanted to leave it just like this instead this time with the snowflake added. The snowflake is from Snowflake Repeats - Jolee's Boutique. The Season's Greetings stamp is from Paper Smooches. And of course the wonderful image is from Meljen's Designs - Santa's Little Helper. On the hat I used flock but it wasn't enough so I added some Picket Fence - Distress Stickles on it also. I used a little bit of Mustard Seed - Distress Stickles on the bell as well. I popped several pieces of him. I colored the image with Copic and here is a list of colors:
Copic:
Gifts: YG0000, YG11, YG13, V12, V15, V17, RV13, RV14, RV19, Y15, Y18, Y19, BG10, BG13, BG15, B000, B12, B14

Challenges:

I hope you all have a wonderful day / evening today!! I just need to get through today and I'll be home working tomorrow!! Woohoo :)  I'm hoping I can get caught up on some cards this weekend. I need to get some images colored. That is what takes me the longest.. well.. that and my need to cut everything up and make everything dimensional LOL!!

Saturday we are packing up and taking the extra food from Thanksgiving at the church to a local MUST Ministries. Sunday will be a busy day for Bailey at church... she has choir practice at 9 am, a meeting at 10 am and then church at 10:30 am. There is a blog hop today over at Paper Smooches.. gotta love me some Paper Smooches!!!! Make sure you go check it out!!!

Crafting When We Can - Fairytale

Happy Sunday everyone :)  Today begins a new challenge at Crafting When We Can. The theme for the next fortnight is Fairytale!!! What a fun theme! I used "Whispy" from Saturated Canary.

I also used a background image from Make It Crafty - Fern Log Digi Stamp. They have some great background stamps and I thought this one would go just perfect with the fairy!  I colored Whispy with Copic markers and the log and mushrooms were colored with Prismacolor Pencils. I used all cardstock.. wow.. I just realized that LOL  Me... using no patterned paper??  How strange!! LOL I used green pearls, white opal liquid pearls on the mushrooms, Stickles - Frosted Lace on the wings and Walnut Stain Distress Ink. the circles where made with one of my circle punches and then from using a paper folding technique on Desire's Blog - Doing Life. If you click on Tutorials, there are several paper folding tutorials there.. so fun! She is an amazing talent too! I used Tinkerbell as my Fairytale... and in the movie Peter Pan when they try to keep her alive by saying I Do Believe In Fairies... I Do! I Do! .. LOL Whenever one of us says I do.. the rest of us start saying that. We do that a lot with different sayings!!

Copic:
Outfit: YG21, YG23, YG25
Skin: E00, E01, E11, R20
Eyes: B02, B04
Lips: R20, R22

Challenge:

Wow.. it's been a busy week. I feel like I have been on the run since Thursday.. Oh wait! I have LOL  That's hard for a person like me that is a complete home body. I like to be home.. just the way I am. But it was a nice Thanksgiving with my sister, my mother and my kids. Just wish Kevin would have been there. We had a good time. We played dominoes for a little while in the evening and then it was time for us to head home. We got to my sisters about 7:30 am and didn't leave until about 7:30 pm. I was exhausted!! And I was glad to get home and crawl into bed.  We went back on Friday and hung out in the afternoon for a bit. We had cake for Michael... He is 14 years old today!!!  Happy Birthday Michael :)  And my sister went in with me and we got him a Nook Tablet. He seemed really happy with his gift. And that's about it. He has requested his very own broccoli casserole LOL!! So, I told him I would make one today for him. That is my thing.. every Thanksgiving and Christmas I have to bring the broccoli casserole!

Kevin's leaves for Sydney in a week for his interview at the Consulate!!! Oh, I am so excited!! I can't believe how close we are!! We should be speaking with the attorney some time this week.. one last go around with him and make sure we have everything in order. I'm praying he will be home in a couple of weeks!!

Off to church soon. I have a meeting before church about Bailey doing some extra things with church. She is going to join the kids choir and be on the media team. I couldn't be happier that she is getting more involved in church. Now what to do with Michael ...

I hope you all have a wonderful day!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Good morning everyone! Today is Thanksgiving Day in the US and the kids and I will be headed down to my sisters house in Atlanta. I'm bringing the ham, I made a broccoli casserole and I'm bringing the desserts that Bailey made. Taylor helped her a little, but it was mainly Bailey. My sister has invited a couple of her friends to Thanksgiving and they are running a half marathon this morning. Lora has asked that we come down early so they can go cheer them on in their run. I'll be staying at my sisters... she doesn't know that yet LOL!! But I have a bit of work to get done and it will be the perfect time to do it!!!

I worked from home yesterday and I worked on some cards for my DT's due this week. I have one finished and one almost finished. I'm packing up all my markers/pencils and I'll be coloring today too! I should be able to get a bit of coloring done being down there all day.

Here are the items that Bailey made to bring down...

These are the acorns with mini Nutter Butters, Hershey Kisses, a mini chocolate chips and chocolate frosting as the glue. They are really cute!!!

These are her Pilgrim hats... this is with a Striped Chocolate Cookie, a marshmallow dipped in chocolate and yellow frosting for the buckle. LOL Cute!

Last, but certainly not least... Turkeys!! Made from Double Stuff Oreos, mini peanut butter cups, Rolo's, candy corn and again chocolate frosting used as the glue. Yellow frosting was used for the legs and eyes, red for the ... hmm.. what is that?? gobbler!! LOL and she used little sprinkles for the center of the eye. Cute huh?? She did a great job with everything!!

I will be getting Michael up soon.. getting everything packed up and heading on our way. I hope you all have a great day!!!

Tammy's Scrapin Corner - Thanksgiving or Fall!

Good morning everyone!! Monday morning... I have a big meeting today with the new boss. I've been stressed all week about it. That is what is on my mind this morning.

Church yesterday was great.. he spoke about being Thankful. Bailey went to Sunday School and Michael wouldn't. We had a nice argument in the hallway about it and then he ended up sitting with Grandma and myself. Kevin is not happy with me that I didn't stand my ground... well, not upset.. disappointed I think. I don't want to push too hard. I'm really at a loss at what to do with him. He is 13 years old and won't hang around kids his age. He isn't an adult, but wants to be around adults. It is really frustrating and I know it is frustrating for Kevin... especially when I give in. One good thing happened... my mother saw someone she knew at church today! Maybe I can get them to hang out and get my mother involved in some things. She needs a life... something to get her outside of her home. This could be just the thing! It's a start!

This week I work Monday through Wednesday. I took off for Thanksgiving Day on Thursday and then the Friday after. I will enjoy my four day weekend! LOL Taylor is home from college, but she is staying with my sister and they are hanging out together. I'm really glad.. I think it is good for them both. We all need to talk about the college expense and figuring out how to pay for next Semester. I also need to talk to her about REALLY trying to get the RA job at school. If she could be an RA in the dorm then it would cover at the least her room and board. That would take a huge chunk out of her cost. And it may even pay for her food as well. We'll have to see what happens. She really needs to push for that though.

On to our challenge today :)  Today we have the new challenge at Tammy's Scrapin Corner. The theme this week for Challenge #37 is Thanksgiving or Fall. Here is my card:

I used a Doodle Dragon image - Acorn Fight .. I love it!! I used scraps from Bo Bunny and Reminisce papers, cardstock, the leaves are from an Embossable Design by Heather McCurdy... wow.. I couldn't tell you how old that is LOL  6 years? 8 years? maybe even 10 years? LOL!! ribbon, Reminisce die cut sticker for "Autumn Bliss". I used two circle die cuts from Spellbinders... then on the top one I layered the ribbon ruffled around it. I popped some parts.. the leg on the bucket for the squirrel, the arm on the bucket for the dragon, the scarf around his neck and his nose. I used Copic to color:

Dragon: R29, R27, R24, R22, G29, G28, G24
Scarf: B06, B05, B04, B02, B00
Squirrel: C7, C5, C3, C1, C00, 100
Metal: C7, C5, C3, C1, C00
Nuts: E21, E25, E27
Wood: E37, E34, E33

Challenges:

For Thanksgiving, I am bringing the Honeybaked Ham, making broccoli casserole and Bailey and I are going to bring some desserts. We are making turkeys.. I'll post them when we get some made, pilgrims hats.. I'll post these as well LOL and acorns. Below is a picture of the acorns. I pinned these three recipes to my Pinterest so we could make some fun little additions for Thanksgiving. Bailey is anxious to get started.. I've told her she has to wait and do them all on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Nutter Butter bites, a hershey kiss and a mini chocolate chip. Everything is glued together with a dab of chocolate frosting. Cute aren't they!!! I'm not sure where the green sprinkles came from LOL She was trying to add something.. more sugar I think was the key!! LOL  Cute and simple to make.. I thought they would be fun to bring!

Alright.. Off for my Monday to begin... Lunch with the new boss and the other admins (stomach turning) Ughhhh... I like my boss now!! LOL I just need it to come and be over with. Have a great day everyone!!!

OSAAT Challenge #140

Good morning everyone!! It has been one heck of a busy week!! And it's Sunday and hopefully I can have a day of rest LOL!! Work was really busy this past week. I don't think I left on time at all. To top that, we have a new boss who is meeting with us all on Monday. I'm a bit stressed over that, because I hate when someone comes in and changes how I work. I deal with change well, but I just don't like it LOL That meeting is tomorrow at lunch. We will see how that goes.

Saturday, the kids and I went to the local Housing Authority and handed out food for Thanksgiving. I'm so happy to see my kids doing things for people. It is so good for them to get involved in Charity work. I hope I can keep them going and that it's something they will carry on through life. It was really an amazing day... It is a special group of women that are doing some extra things to get on their feet. They are meeting once a week and doing some seminars. We were able to sit down and talk to a few of them. We met the lady that we have adopted her family for Christmas. It is her and her son and she was such an amazing lady. I was able to sit down and tell them I was where they are when I had my first daughter. It was a beautiful day with all of them and listening to them and talking with them. Just wonderful!!

After the visit and handing out the boxes, we headed to grab something to eat. We ate at a local restaurant, The Whistle Stop Cafe. Lunch was wonderful! They have the BEST fried okra LOL And they sell honey from a local guy. I will have to bring Kevin here when he gets back. After we all ate, we headed to Costco to pick up a few things. Then we came home... the kids ran up and dropped a couple of things in the apartment and we headed to Walmart to get the grocery shopping done. And wouldn't you know it!!! I have to go back tomorrow because I forgot a few things. Ughhh... Oh well!

Alright... let me get on with the challenge at hand!!

This week is Challenge #140 at One Stitch At A Time! The theme is "Use A Digi". For this challenge I used the image Toadstools and Snails - Hope Jacare Doodles. I used Prismacolor Pencils to color the image.

I used Prismacolor pencils, Copic 100 for some small detailing, The Art Glittering System - Crystal, Galaxy Marker - White, ZIG Millennium .05 Black pen, brown gems from Bo Bunny, Walnut Stain Distress Ink. And I believe that is it.

Challenge:
I'll be headed off to church in a bit... I hope you all have a wonderful day!!!

Meljen's DT Day - I'm Thankful For ...

Thankful!!  Thankful!!  Thankful!!  Thankful!!  Thankful!!

I am thankful for so much every day! I'm thankful for the good Lord and all that he sacrificed for me. He is always there for me; always there for all of us! What a blessing!

I'm thankful for my wonderful family, my fiance Kevin and my three children. I have been so blessed. Three wonderful kids.. Taylor in college and doing so well - I'm so proud of her! Michael is a great boy.. he is kind and bright and we are working on him to get him more involved in things. Bailey .. she is bright and joyful. She jumps right into everything. And Kevin... He is my best friend! I can't wait to get him back home. I'm so thankful that I have him in my life.

I'm thankful for the great job that I go to each day and I am thankful I can support us all. I am thankful for being able to put a roof over our head and food on our table. My bosses are supportive and good to me. They are so flexible and allow me to have the schedule I need for my family. It has been great to be there and to work for all of them.

I'm thankful for loving friends.. especially my best friend Jia even though she is so far away now. She moved to Ohio, but I know she is always there for me when I need her. I can always count on Jia for anything.

I'm thankful for finding the church that we go to and being able to give back to them by giving my time to help in ways that I am able. It has been such a blessing to find the right church without having to search. They have been wonderful and getting more involved has been wonderful. I love being able to give back and I love being able to show and involve my kids so that they know how important it is.

Turkeys, Pies and Cocoa - A Plethera of Cards

I LOVE Fall!!! Especially when it is like this year has been. I have enjoyed the awesome weather and the change it colors has been extraordinary this year. I love the cool air and being able to open up the doors and windows!! My favorite time of year!

I hope you all have had a wonderful weekend!! Kevin is still nursing a bad ankle.. its still swollen and painful. I'm hoping he can get back into the doctor today. We need to get him all fixed up. It is only about  three weeks until he heads down to Sydney to the Consulate!! Wow!! Putting that in writing just .. wow!! We are almost there!! I'm so excited!!!

What else... I took a couple of days off work last week. I worked on these cards.. and did some volunteer work for church. I took a HUGE load of clothes to a consignment store for them. The consignment store uses the money it makes to fund the home for girls that have been found in the sex trafficking industry. I had no idea that Atlanta had such a huge sex trafficking problem. And these are just girls.. young teenage girls that are getting taken and forced into this. It is so sad. Good stories come out of WellSpring though. Stories of girls reunited with families and off the street and making something of themselves.

We adopted a family for Christmas at church today. My mother and my sister are going to help. It is one little boy. He is 12 years old and we will hopefully be able to give him a nice Christmas. I also adopted three larger families for work. Each additional family has three kids each. We are a large group, so we should be able to give these kids a nice Christmas. I'm very excited.. and I'm excited that my Director's agreed to do this.

Let's see... I've been working on some cards for my DT's, but there were a few that didn't work out or I did a different card. So, here are those three LOL

This is my Grateful card.. I was going to use it for the upcoming MelJen's Challenge.. Orange and Brown. It didn't work out though.. I added a lot more different colors LOL So I did a different card for that. I used MelJen's Pumpkin Pie Slice. I also used Walnut Stain Distress Ink, Adirondack Color Wash - Butterscotch, Tattered Angel Glimmer Mists - Tattered Leather, Cranberry Zing, Gold, Bronze, Stickles Orange Peel and Yellow and Frosted Lace .. I need a new Orange Peel.. I don't know what the heck is wrong with that one... but it is frustrating and won't come out right LOL, Bo Bunny brads and gems and Scribbles 3D Paint - Christmas Green and Black, Spellbinders Rectangles. The papers are all Bo Bunny Apple Cider and Bazzill Cardstock.
Copic:
E41, E11, E13, E21
YR01, YR14, YR18
E21, E27, E29
R39, R59, R89
B21, B24, B28, B29
Y32, Y35, Y38

Challenge:

 =======================================================

For my second card I used Meljen's Cinnamon Harvest Mug. The papers are Reminisce and Imaginisce and Bazzill Cardstock. I used one of my EK edge punches, cheesecloth and the "Feels Like Fall" is a die cut sticker from Reminisce. I used a very small amount of orange peel stickles and two green pearls from Bo Bunny.
Copic:
Cinnamon Sticks - E13. E15, E17
Cocoa - E71, E74
Cup - E30, E31, E35
Leaves - E25, E17, E43, E44, YR15, YR16, YR18
Acorn - E77, E79, E35, E39

Challenges:

 =======================================================

I LOVE these little turkeys!!! They are from Just Ink Lined. I colored them with my Prismacolor Pencils. I popped pieces of them. I used three brads from Bo Bunny and two gems from Bo Bunny. I stitched around the green cardstock. Lots of layers.. I love that! And the papers are all Bo Bunny papers and Bazzill Cardstock. Happy Thanksgiving.. I can't remember which stamp I used for that. The ink was Walnut Stain Distress Ink. "Eat More Ham" was handwritten with a ZIG Memory pen and under that is Pen Touch White Opaque.

Challenges:
