Open-Minded Crafting Fun May Challenge #5

Good morning everyone!! Happy Tuesday and Happy 10th of the Month! Today is a new challenge at Open-Minded Crafting Fun and this month we are celebrating the theme "Use Your Favorite Technique"! This is a fun one for me! I love seeing what everyone is else is doing and new techniques! It gives me a ton of new ideas to make note of! I love this.. I can't wait to see what everyone does!!

Our wonderful sponsors for May are:

Thank you so much for your amazing sponsorship's this year!!  We can't express how appreciative we are to all of you!! And here is my card creation for this challenge:

For this one I have used The Little Dragonfly from Julia Spiri Stamps. I have no idea where I picked up this awesome flower scene. It is just loaded with tulips. When I saw it I thought it would be perfect to put her flying above them. I colored everything with my Copic markers. I have used a couple of die cuts and everything is done with scraps. I also added the ribbon, the small pearls on the butterfly and the small star gems that I purchased from Etsy. I have done a bit of image layering on this and there is my favorite technique... well one of them! I love decoupage, layering my images. I also love coloring with Copics, die cuts and creating backgrounds with Distress Ink. I have also used some Copic Opaque White on her hair.

Copic Markers Used:
  • Yellow Flowers: Y00, Y11, Y15, Y18
  • Pink Flowers: RV10, RV13, RV14
  • Red Flowers: R22, R24, R46

Winners and Rolling Out The Red Midway Post at Open-Minded Crafting Fun!.

Good morning! And a very happy Saturday!! The kids are in Atlanta with my sister. They went to stay with her yesterday for Midtown Atlanta. It's a big music festival in Atlanta. They are very excited! It started on Friday and goes through Saturday. This morning I am up at the crack of dawn to head to Atlanta to grab Bailey though. She has her first Lacrosse game today and it is an hour away! That is the furthest game though and the majority of them are at the high school here or close by. So, that will be my day; getting her to her game and then getting her back to my sisters! It is gorgeous in the mornings though so it will be a great ride!! Other than that... Thursday the boys both had eye appointments... and on Friday it was the girl's turn. I did go with Kevin and Michael on Thursday and then Bailey and I headed back Friday morning. Now it is the weekend.. time to relax and create!!  Have a great weekend everyone!!

This morning you will find the Winners and DT Picks at Open-Minded Crafting Fun. Then at noon you will find the midway post with additional inspiration from the team!! Our sponsors for Challenge #19: Roll Out The Red are:

We are so blessed with amazing sponsors! And I can't thank them enough!!  Be sure to visit them to show your support!  Where would be without our amazing artists who create amazing images so we can in turn create our crafts!!

Okay.. on to my creation for our Roll Out The Red Midway:

For this one I created a little gift card holder box using my Cameo!  Have I told you how much fun I'm having with it? LOL!!!  For the top I used a Stitchy Bears image - Apple Pie and I colored it my Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol. I did a little bit of decoupage on it. I cute the apple with the Cameo and used all scrap papers from my fall papers from last year. The die cut used to cut the image is a Spellbinders die. I added some red chalk around the edge of that die. I used two different stamps to stamp inside the apple and I stitched around the edge of that top paper. I added the patterned papers around the edge and you can see the inside holds a card.

Good morning!

It doesn't matter what kind of theme.. autumn, fall, birthday, Christmas.. that is entirely up to you.. We just want to see it all dressed up in Red!! :)  Our wonderful sponsors for Challenge #19 are:

Here is what I have come up with:

As you can see I decided to go the Christmas route on this one. And I made a little bag! The image I used is Holiday Truck from the wonderful Scribbles Designs. I cut the bag with my We R Memory Keepers Punch Board. I had the most fun decoupaging this beauty!! I wanted it all layered.. with the different layers of gifts all stepped.. I love it!! I tried to take some photos to show it, but it doesn't really show you that well. I added the sparkle fiber to it. The papers are all scraps from last years Christmas papers. I added the little charm to top it off and the ribbon as the handle for the bag. The image was colored up with my Copic Markers and the ornaments on the tree were colored with my glittery Spicas.

Copic Markers Used:
  • Truck Red: R37, R39, RV99
  • Christmas Bag and Ribbons: R14, R35, R46, R59
  • Truck Green and Gifts: YG03, YG05, YG07, G19

Here is my water creation for the midway post:

I had fun creating this card. The image is Brrr-ubbles from Scribbles Designs and I absolutely love him! I did a bit of decoupage on him. I popped the mask, his beak and bow tie, the snorkel, his feet and the tube. Then for a second layer I popped the mask, the top of his beak, the face on the tube and the snorkel. I used a My Favorite Things die cut to cut the background dots layer. I also dry embossed the blue paper with swirls... although you can't really see that one very well LOL and the yellow with the bubbles. I used Sizzix dies for the splats and the bubbles. I chalked the embossed swirls that you can't see and I also chalked the bubbles and splats to get some dimension added to it. I then to my clear UTEE and covered all of the bubbles and splats. There are some random drops around the card as well. I filled up the mask with Diamond Glaze to add that nice clear shine to make it really look like a mask. The image is colored with my Copic Markers. The inside was cut with another My Favorite Things die and embossed with the bubbles. You can see the added chalk around that one. And then I added the extra bubbles and splat covered in UTEE to the inside. The bubbles and splats are popped as well. And to finish it off I added the yellow ribbon. That's it! I have no idea where the patterned papers are from.. they have been in my stash for a long long time LOL And the cardstock is all from my scraps. Be sure to check out the rest of the team.. They are all so talented!

  • Feet and Beak: YR02, YR07, YR09

Be sure you shout out a HUGE thank you to Scribbles Designs for the generosity!!

And we were so excited that Scribbles Designs was SO generous, that Vicky and I decided that we would make a couple of cards using Scribbles Designs images and our challenge would be to CASE each others cards!!

Well, let me just start by saying... WHAT!!!??!!!  You want me to CHOOSE one of those awesome cards to CASE!!! LOL!!!!!!!!  That was SO not Easy!!!  I finally settled on this one after forever trying to choose!! LOL

Fantastic card, isn't it!!! I just love it! Love the distressing, the inking... the elements are perfect!! Just awesome!

So, for this challenge I used the freebie - #606 Birdhouse #1. And here is my CASE of Vicky's card:

I colored it all up with my Copic. I inked the edges of the image and the sentiment. I added the little flowers and the pearls and I distressed the edges of the paper. This was a lot of fun :)  I'd copy Vicky any day!! LOL!!
