Whiff of Joy August.

Can you believe we are over half way through August already! My gosh this year is just flying by! Bailey started Lacrosse practice yesterday and she LOVED it! Everyone told her she did really well for just starting and she seems really excited. She is going to have a busy year this year. She is in 8th grade, which means they are the top dogs at the Middle School LOL  I keep telling her.. Not for long! So, they will have some fun things to do this year. One of them is going to Disney with the orchestra/band/chorus. I'm not sure which one she is going to go with, but I keep pushing her to do orchestra... it will take her further. So, I have to start pulling out money to save for that trip! My oldest went with the chorus when she was in Middle School... she had a blast.  So, between, orchestra, chorus, Lacrosse and clubs... and homework LOL  It's going to be a busy year for my little social bug!

Alright.. enough of that LOL  On to my 2nd post for August with Whiff of Joy.

Isn't he adorable? This is Retired Bee which you can find at the Whiff of Joy Shop. I did a little bit of decoupage on him... I popped his hat, his tie, his front arm, his front leg and his front wing. I colored him up with my Copic Markers. I did a little bit of distressing on the edges of some of the papers. The papers are from a 6x6 stack - . The bottom strip of honey comb is from a My Favorite Thing die cut ad the honeycomb at the top are from a Spellbinders die. I then added the yellow gems from my stash.  The "You're Retiring?" stamp is from Club Scrap. I used the same paper stack to coordinate the inside and a few honeycomb in there as well.

COPIC MARKERS:
  • Black on Bee: C1, C3, C5, C7, C9
  • Yellow On Bee: Y04, Y13, Y15, Y18

Freebie Challenge / Beach At The East Wind.

Kyra has done it again! An amazing freebie image! Aurora is ready for the beach and she is just beautiful! Today is the 1st and we are beginning our Challenge #12 Freebie Challenge with a theme of Beach at The East Wind. Aurora Bubble Gum and Mint Chocolate... isn't she great! I love her!  Here was my take on this challenge:

I colored her with Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol. I did a small amount of decoupage; her hat rim and her ice cream cone. The papers I used are from Club Scrap... I LOVE their papers. I really need to start that again! I miss getting my pizza box! I added the corners (Spellbinders) which I cut with black cardstock. The butterflies (Spellbinders) I cut the background with the black cardstock and then I used the other papers for the top. I also added pearls to the middle of each of those butterflies. I added two different ribbons, two of the same, that I tied around the middle strip. I added gems to the bottom half of the scalloped edged papers. I also added inking on the edges of the image and stitching around the image. On the inside I stitched around three sides of the cardstock and added some silver puff paints on the scalloped edge. I also added the small black butterflies with the pearls on them as well.   I stamped Birthday Greetings. And I believe that is it. She is just wonderful! I love her!

Bookworm - Use A Book As Inspiration at Meljen's Designs.

Good morning everyone and Happy Thursday!!  Today is a new challenge over at Meljen's Designs. We are on Challenge #219 and the challenge is Bookwork (use a book as inspiration). My inspiration came from "The Hobbit".  Here is my creation for this challenge:

I used papers that came from Club Scrap. I really love their papers.. the quality is just not matched! And they are very unique! The die cut swirls are from Memory Box. I added gems on the swirl and pearls on the strip on the side. I added the little bouquet of flowers and leaves on the top corner. I though the white ribbon would be a nice added touch as well. I decoupaged this image and I had a blast doing it. The sentiment is a quote from "The Hobbit". I colored this image with my Copic markers as well. This image by the way LOL Is Traveling Gnome from Meljen's Designs. The swirls on the inside are from the cutout parts of the edge on the front.

  • Skin: E000, E00, E01, E11, E13

    Challenges:
This has been a week... I had to move from my super cushy corner closet at work LOL It was literally a supply closet that they put me in and it was my little sanctuary for a couple of years. Oh, I loved my little quiet space away from everyone. But, as we have run out of space and continued to hire a bunch of chiefs, I have been moved out and into a cubicle. Everyone is so loud and rude LOL But then... I'm just bitter because I had to move to a much more populated, loud and not so private area. I will adjust, but until then I will complain a little LOL About people sneaking up behind you and just standing there all creeper like! I brought a mirror in so I could see them coming up behind me! Okay.. I'm done venting :p  Like I said.. I will adjust.. after I put some beads up in my doorway LOL!!! Alright.. I'm really done :p  Alright everyone!! Get busy with the challenge this week :)  I can't wait to see some great designs!!

Have a great rest of your week everyone!! And Happy Crafting!!

    A Meljen's Sketch Challenge

Good morning everyone! It has been a week so far! Thank goodness it is Thursday! Let's see... so all the bosses are gone and that is a good thing, because work has been pretty quiet. Monday the van driver's side window got stuck about a quarter of the way down. It wouldn't budge up or down... just stuck! AND! the next day it was suppose to rain. How lucky could that be! LOL I called up the other girls and told them I was taking Tuesday to see if I could get it fixed. It is now rolled up, but I don't want to spend the $200+ to get it fixed!

Monday night Bailey came downstairs to ask me if she felt hot. She didn't, but I told her take her temp and it was 87.2. Tuesday morning she came down and she did feel hot. We took her temp again and now it was 102. So, Bailey stayed home sick, I stayed home to run errands and see about the van. I did get a lot done. We managed to get to the bank, mail off the paperwork for Kevin's Adjustment of Status and get down to the bike shop to cancel the warranty thing that we had on it. At least it was a pretty productive day. I took Bailey's temp in the evening and it was back up to 102, which means that she stayed home on Wednesday too. Kevin was having major mouth pain from an extraction last week on top of everything else.

Wednesday was another stay home day for Bailey. When she woke up her temp was 100.5 and when I got home from work she looked better. Her voice is a bit hoarse, but she is definitely on the mend. Kevin went to the dentist in the morning so they could fix up his mouth... which only made him hurt more. He ended up with dry socket in the extraction site and some bone working out of his gum that they ground down... YUCK! All he wanted was milkshakes LOL I was so tired when I got home from work!!

So, here we are on Thursday... I love Thursday! It is my week to share in the new challenge over at Meljen's and this week we have a wonderful sketch!
And here is what I came up with using this sketch for reference:

I love this image from Meljen's .. It is Remember Always Cross. The cross on the inside is a rubber stamp from . I also added a scripture on the inside. My other supplies were: Club Scrap papers, Copic, Frosted Lace - Stickles, Gold - Liquid Pearls, cork corners and ribbon buckle, American Crafts Glitter Ribbon - White and a charm from my stash.

    Copic:
    E41
    Y11, Y13, Y15, Y17, YR23

    Challenge:

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's take on this fantastic sketch!!! I hope you all have a great Thursday!
