Santa Peace

Good evening! My daughter went home today. I couldn't get her in to see the doctor and she wasn't coughing today. I've told her that if it continues when she returns then we are going. So, she headed home. And I've spent the day crafting and working on the Open-Minded website.

You will find this little guy at Etsy:  https://www.etsy.com/shop/SentimentalsSusan

I wanted to share another Christmas card I finished.

For this card I have used Santa Peace from Gerda Steiner. I have used my Copic markers to color this adorable Santa. I've done a bit of layering. For the white on the clothes I've used my Snow Marker. All of the papers are scraps. And I've used a couple of stamps for the sentiments on the inside and outside. I kept this card pretty simple. I've used Silver and Gold Wink of Stella on the belt buckle and the letters on the signs.

Copic Markers Used:
  • Red Suit: R22, R24, R29
  • Black Belt, Gloves, Boots: C5, C7, C9
  • Face: E000, E00, E21, E11, R20

Christmas Bear

Good morning! I hope you all had a WONDERFUL Christmas!! We had a really nice Christmas with the family. Michael had to work on Christmas day, so I took him down to see my sister and mother on Christmas Eve. He opened all his gifts and was able to spend time with them. Bailey is in California of course, with her father. On Christmas Day, we dropped Michael off at work and then headed down to my sisters. We spent a lot of the day down there. We had lobster tails and steak for dinner. It was beautiful! Then we headed home, thinking that we had to pick up Michael a little after 4 pm. He didn't get home until much later.

Then on Sunday night my oldest daughter came back. She had an eye appointment yesterday. She has some holes in her retina which can cause a retinal detachment if not treated. She will need to get laser surgery on her eyes. She also has to do some special testing on her eyes. She is going to Colorado right after the 1st of the year, so her test is set up for the 12th after she returns. Then the first eye will have surgery on the 26th and the 2nd eye will be done on February 9th. She has always had terrible eyes.

And after spending the day with Taylor I realized she has this terrible cough. When I asked her how long she has had it she says.. a while! So I told her I was going to try to get her in to see the doctor today. I'm just waiting until they are there to call in. I'm hoping they can get her in this morning. I know she wants to go back home. So that is it for us. I'm trying to enjoy my last week off. Getting the Open-Minded Crafting Fun challenge ready for the 10th of January and trying to get some crafting and coloring done.

Here is my share this morning:

For this card I've used Gift Stack Teddy which you can find in the From The Heart Shop. I've colored the image with my Copic Markers. I've done a small bit of layering. I've also used some clear Wink of Stella to give some of the gifts sparkle. I did a bit of distressing on the papers. All of these papers are scraps. I did a bit of hand stitching on the image. I used Snow Marker for the white parts of the hat to add some dimension there. I added a charm there as well. I've added some thread with beads and bells across the top of the card. I also added two light blue snowflake eyelets. I used the same papers, all distressed, on the inside as well.

Copic Markers Used:
  • Bear: B21, B23, B24
  • Red Hat, Ribbon and Gift Wrap: R20, R22, R24, R29
  • Gold Wrap: Y00, Y11, Y15, YR23
  • Silver Wrap: C00, C1, C3, C5
  • Blue Wrap: B0000, B00, B02, B04

One more Gift

Hi everyone!! And a very happy Monday! I just need to get through Monday and Tuesday!! Then I'm taking off until the 4th of January. I'll still have to do a little bit of work, but for the most part I'm off! and home!! :D  So I'm very excited about that LOL I have gotten zero coloring done this past weekend, so I'm looking forward to that! What else?  My youngest daughter got in trouble again this weekend. Big time!! And it was with the same girl that she got grounded for a week before. So now, she isn't allowed to ever see that person again! Although, I think she realizes that is a smart choice herself. Other than that it was a pretty good weekend.

So, I'm off to work.. Have a great week everyone!! Here is what I'm sharing today. The first two are the before photos:

So, these are the before photos. I can't believe I actually managed to take photos before I started altering them!! LOL I picked these up at the Goodwill around the corner. As you can see, they are just plain black little lanterns. I thought I would try to alter them and come up with something that my mother might like. So, I've altered these to give to my mother as a Christmas Gift. Here is how they turned out:

So, to start I painted these in a Hammertone Bronze paint. Then I took the silver rub and made the center metal all silver. I added some string of pearls to the edge of the roof of the lantern and to the very top of the lantern. I added some lace on the top of the lantern too. I've added lots of different flowers around the lantern and a few buttons as well. I took those vines and wrapped them up the stand leaving some to drape down over the top. I also added that butterfly at the top of each one. It surprises me how much it brightened it up by adding the bronze paint. I love how they turned out. I hope my mother will like them! Oh! And I added two battery operated tea lights for her too :)  No fire in these lanterns!

A Gift For My Oldest Daughter

Happy Sunday everyone! It is just about time to go back to work! It comes way too quickly. I've wanted to color all weekend but I have yet to color! I have finished up Christmas gifts though. I finished this one which I giving to my oldest daughter. Although.. I did change it a bit. I added some silver to the bottom of the glass. It looks really nice! I have also added a nice red bow to the stem as well.

Here is my project to share today:

The wine glasses I got for $1 and the candles were $1. I had the snow from winters past LOL  And then I went to the yard and got the pine cones. I painted them with white paint on the tips. For the bottom I used some silver thick cardstock. Then, as I said above.. I have since added silver to the bottom of the glass... or the top of the candle holder :)  That it all silver now. I added a nice red bow to the stem to add that bit of color and that is it.

Christmas Gift #2 for My Sister

Happy Thursday everyone!!  This is the kids last week of school before the holiday break. They are out early today and Friday because of Final Exams. Then Bailey will be headed off to California on Christmas Eve morning. I'm so sad she is leaving me at Christmas.. it really stinks!!  We are thinking of opening gifts the day before Christmas Eve so that we can do it with her. We will keep talking about it and see. Maybe we just let her open hers? I just don't know. Maybe I should just make her wait until she gets back! LOL  I can't decide.

Tomorrow I am working from home.. I have so much to do. I have a lot to try and get done before next Wednesday so that none of the bills are past due. So, I'll be busy at work tomorrow. Friday night I am having dinner with my previous boss. She was the best boss. I'm so happy to get to see her.. really looking forward to it! Other than that, this weekend I will be coloring, creating and working on Christmas gifts. I have a lot to do in the next week!

Okay... on to today's project to share with you:

This is a Jim Holtz idea-ology Assesmblage Clock. This is also another gift for my sister. My sister has really gotten into Scuba Diving. She has gotten certified and traveled to different places to dive. So, I thought of her for this. I wanted to give it an under the sea theme with a Scuba Diver. I painted the clock that blueish color. I've added netting and shells and sand dollars and starfish to the outside. I added the charm hanging off a bit of chain. At the bottom of the inside I have added sand. All of the other pieces are made out of clay. I made porcelain clay and used my acrylic paints to color it. I had so much fun with this clay! I've asked for some tools to help me create some other things. I even made a little pendant for my youngest with her favorite bands emblem. Okay... back to the clock! I've colored up some fish and sea creatures with my copic markers. Some of them are found from the web and others are from Drawn With Character. The background and Scuba Diver are from The Paper Shelter. I also used some Diamond Glaze to add bubbles and to cover the mask of the Divers helmet. I had a lot of fun making this. I think I could have done more, but not too bad for a first try I guess! I hope she likes it :)
